Thanks for the tip — that idea totally slipped my mind! Here is a strange thing — your idea worked fine on a different machine; I was able to curl the .gz directly. However, on the machine giving me trouble, the download hangs in the same place - even when doing the direct web download!?? I can’t see a reason why. Regardless, I can download then sftp over to the machine that needs it, put it in the /sw/src folder with all the other gz files. I tried running the standard update command at that point, and told fink to just use the file as-is, but it didn’t seem to work. Could you toss me a link to instructions on how to install from a local src file?
