That, plus my belief that I had a possible fix for the long-standing gnuplot vs Qt-terminal issue to hand, was why I was looking into building a newer Qt5 for Cygwin. Hats off to Achim for doing most of the work towards getting a newer-than-5.9.4 Qt5 buildable on Cygwin. I tried several variations on my fix but was unable to solve the issue. Stymied by excessive abstractionism IMO within the source. The only other thing I can say about my test build is that it passes 'cygport test' but that doesn't seem to actually test anything. I could either upload this test package (but I'd need permission for that) or I could publish the .cygport+patchfiles someplace you can download from. Let me know if you'd prefer either course.
