i'm surprised to read this at fbsd ml at all...

i often wonder where those creative ideas as those come from and why they get carried along

also, say we do this. how to enforce this? because if it's not enforced, it has no effect? but lawmakers somehow think that oses have ability to somehow override users. that computer is that box we adults control etc. whatever they think. i often want to just ASK someone why they think it's good idea. i bet they give me completely logical idea from their point of view tho

besides every time i hear age verification, seems like most of the "steam" goes to "protecting" teens from porn, sex in general and even sex ed. which is fun as someone somehow will fill that "hole" (what a pun!) anyway. at best it will be friend, maybe bit older, at worse, it will be a pedophile (like what happened to my gf who eventually ran away because my breakdowns on her behaviour)

as for "other" harmful things. i was together with other weird kids in boarding school because asperger. that was the one not meant for retards. i was 12 years old at that time and i'll tell that community was quite self-maintaining one where many stupid decisions were made. but no adult stuff was unknown in that. it was all behind "age verification" "seal" but there it was on our hands. others tried alcohol, i exposed myself to electricity in a way that adult me would have screamed "you idiot". it was a wild wild west. also, all of this happened in estonia in 1994, after collapse of soviet union in 1991, which made things worse and better. of course there was adult supervision but as it was known, it could be circumvented. ever recall the shouting of "teacher is coming!" and everyone quickly re-behaves. i bet adults realize that but they either accept it or i don't know what they think. what's the other way. total surveillance? that's also what those laws propose. funnily even that won't fix the issue

often the needed education of subject includes subject itself and it's effects and dangers as a whole. why people have sex, why people consume alcohol and other substances, why people kill or injure themselves, why extreme challenges are a thing, what is crime / gangs, etc (there's long list of things here that deserve to be in youth education). opponents propose that exposing developing brain to that and giving "wrong" ideas. proponents say it just helps to cope with things if encountered (i like that approach)

so yeah... i understand the ideas, i don't accept the methods

btw, i recall that nbsd has terms that it's somehow prohibited to use that in "bad" countries. i would lmfao if that's used in e.g. iran nuclear program nevertheless
