It shouldn't work.  You're performing the entire update using 10.x's
copy of freebsd-update which has known bugs (inability to deal with a
path existing in both versions but being a file in one and a directory
in the other; inability to deal with the existence of libsys; and more)

We've never claimed to support this, either.
