Well that Network Nowhere NIC was giving me performance grief in 3 other 
opsys's so I ditched it and got a proper 3Com card. More $$$ but works 
like a charm.

For the record, FreeBSD was really easy to install on this Thinkpad. It 
helps that I have the X settings memorized ...
