     On a related topic, note that most lower-end laptops have
low-resolution screens (1024x768).  The screens may be physically large,
but the resolution is small.  You'll have to pay a significant premium
to get a laptop with a decent resolution, and it's possible that you may
end up paying twice as much as a comparable desktop.

     Also, LCD screens aren't as good as CRTs for color reproduction.
If you're doing any kind of work that needs good color reproduction,
LCDs are probably not a good choice.

     On the plus side, the price of a laptop with an high resolution
screen (e.g., 1600x1200) is pretty good compared to the prices of
high-resolution LCD monitors (>1280x1024).  LCD screens are also much
sharper than CRT screens (in native LCD resolution).
