I've had the exact same problem with a Sony GRX416 laptop. (trying
variations of 4.6, 4.7,4-REL,5.0-STABLE and 5.0-CURRENT). Presumably
something needs to be generating interupts to keep the soundchip happy?

My knowledge of freebsd kernel internals gets rather fuzzy past doing
anything more complicated than tweaking the most noddy of kernel config
files, but I'd love to know from someone who knows a bit more about this
why this seems to be so difficult to fix.
