vmware2 ALT-CTL-ESC on Inspiron 7000

vmware uses ALT-CTL-ESC to release the mouse pointer from the
vmware window.  The Inspiron 7000 seems to intercept this key
sequence, causing the laptop to suspend.  Is there a way to
convince the I7000 BIOS to ignore the sequence and pass it
through, or to change the key sequence vmware is looking for?
