hi. i'm running into some trouble getting the ethernet card (a 3C589d) working
in my laptop (a gateway solo 5100) with 4.5-RELEASE. sometimes it freezed the
system up to the point i had to pull the battery any power to reboot it, other
times it just doesn't come up. when i put the card in i get this if it doesn't
freeze:
pccardd[110]: Found existing driver (ep) for 3Com Corporation
pccardd[110]: setting config reg at offs 0x10000 to 0x41, Reset time = 50ms
pccardd[110]: Assigning I/O window 0, start 0x240, size 0x10 flags 0x7
/kernel: ep0: Unit failed to come ready or product ID unknown! (id 0x1018)
pccardd[110]: Assign ep0, io 0x240-0x24f, mem 0x0, 0 bytes, irq 9, flags 0
pccardd[110]: driver allocation failed for 3Com Corporation(/3C589/): Device
not configured
in /etc/pccard.conf i have:
card "3Com Corporation" "/3C589/"
config auto "ep" ?
insert /etc/pccard_ether $device start -link0 link1
remove /etc/pccard_ether $device stop
for the relevant entry.
I also have pccard_mem="0xD400" in /etc/rc.conf. any ideas?
