XFree86 4.2.0, FreeBSD 4.5-stable and Dell L400/ATI borked?

a Dell L400, which worked fine on XFree86 4.1.0 for an external
monitor, now doesn't work for 4.2.0.

Its probably an XFree86 thing, but I wondered if any other FreeBSD owners
with this *specific* unit (its the Dell L400 with ATI Mobility chipset)
had seen this.
