I got 4.5R installed on the above laptop by disable the eisa probe on
boot.  You can do so by entering the CLI kernel configuration and typing
"eisa 0".  After installation but BEFORE REBOOTING, make sure to recompile
a new kernel that does not have "device eisa" anywhere in it.

That said, 4.5R doesn't support the touchpad or the soundcard on the
Toshiba Satellite 3000-S304 without a patch that some guy distributed on a
mailing list.  So you might want to take that into consideration before
installing anything.
