Oh, yes, your device is pch_spt. 

Is your Nic connected to a HUB?
If your HUB has a link LED, is the LED lit even when the machine is powered
off?
If the LED is not lit, it is possible that power is not being supplied to the
NIC.
After being shut down from other OS, can your laptop wake up by a WOL event?
