It is actually kld_list="/boot/modules/amdgpu.ko" as leaving out the .ko causes nothing to attempt to load. On reboot, the system freezes during the driver loading, and I have to physically power off the system and boot into single user mode to disable the driver and recover. I have tried this in 11.2 and 12.0 Beta1. I have tried drm-stable-kmod as well. I have tried this in both UEFI and legacy boot modes, but it happens the same each time. If I load the i915 driver, that loads without issue.
