That may be based on too short term of a definition of "successfully":
I'd say t hat being able to repeat the procedure the same way next time
is part of what would constitute success, not needing to also do other
things not currently documented.

An  issue I reported is about future activity in the context that you
established. I expect that things may be messed up: For example, a
question is if freebsd-update will report an error that it is not to be
used with pkgbase systems.

That is consistent with avoiding mixing freebsd-update and pkgbase
installs on the same system.
