Point taken.  But I merely was trying to state that DPMI is of 
importance for us because we are running DOS boxes in Linux.  If we 
didn't care for DOS boxes in Linux at all, then we wouldn't care about 
DPMI, only VCPI.   Perhaps this is just too obvious for you, but for me 
it was another step up the learning curve....   But along the way you 
have made some excellent points anyway!  :-)
