Announcing the release of Cam 1.0...
I happened across this recommendation (taken from the "Contribution" HOWTO):
"A text-mode video capture tool: start a program that
launches a shell, recording everything on screen to a
self-viewing executable."
The application of such a tool is fairly obvious. It would allow users and
developers to, in effect, take a "screen shot" of their monitors while in
text-mode. You can capture the output of academic/scientific programs, debug
lists from your favorite command line compiler, or ANY other text.
Cam doesn't completely adhere to the specifications as they were originally
set forth (it doesn't create .exe's as output), but I honestly believe it
does the next best thing. Indeed, its method of output may be superior.
The code is written relatively tightly in C++ and x86 ASM, and is released
under the GNU GPL. I hope this contributes to the FreeDOS project.

Thanks!
