Hi, Charles, Thanks for detailed reports. I made some casual FTP test run on my NAS and got the following results so far. NetBSD nas8245 5.99.64 NetBSD 5.99.64 (KUROBOX) #109: Sat Feb 11 10:46:39 JST 2012 cpu0 at mainbus0: 8245 (Revision 0.4), ID 0 (primary) cpu0: HID0 0x90c000<DOZE,DPM,ICE,DCE>, powersave: 1 cpu0: 195.12 MHz It receives 1giga file from Pen3 933MHz running NB5.1. The two are housed in the same 100Mbps netgear switching hub, no GbE is involved in this case. It's known that the PC can send/receive a single FTP stream with wire-saturating 11MiB/s speed. ftp> put LARGE /dev/null ... 100% |**********************************| 976 MiB 4.76 MiB/s 00:00 ETA 1024000000 bytes sent in 03:25 (4.76 MiB/s) On the reverse direction, my NAS can swallow FTP stream some slower. ftp> put LARGE /dev/null ... 100% |***********************************| 976 MiB 3.67 MiB/s 00:00 ETA 1024000000 bytes sent in 04:25 (3.67 MiB/s) These facts indicate the 195MHz CPU lacks the muscle to saturate the 100Mbps pipe.
