I finally had a chance to build the ISO and the miniroot with the patch:

  https://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/misc/jdc/sparc/boot/NetBSD-10.0_STABLE-sparc.iso
  https://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/misc/jdc/sparc/boot/miniroot.fs.gz

If you have the external HD with a bootable installation, you could just
install the new bootblocks there using:

  https://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/misc/jdc/sparc/boot/boot.388000

I'm not sure if it's the same or not - I've not seen that error before.

I hope this works and that you haven't burned a CD for nothing!
