To get in touch with the Be/Haiku kernel services, you could also help out Kaoutsis with http://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/1071 ie. writing test apps. One peculiarity of the Be/Haiku kernel is that it mirrors most of the actual user API, that is, the functions you're using when doing kernel programming are partially POSIX plus the usual Be kernel API components. There are only a dozen or so calls that are only available in the kernel. Anyway, if you're not interested in any of the above, or feel uncomfortable with it, just tell.
