VFS : Reading unreliable support

This week-end I read a media stream (video) from a CD/DVD (on a  
non-Haiku commercial OS) and because a block was unreadable,
the video froze.
(In a good system I would loose only a few frames)

So, Here is my question.
If ou try to read a data stream from a filesystem hosted on an  
unreliable support (CD/DVD/Network)
and a few data are unreadable(Bad CRC), out of time or lost, is the  
system(Haiku/vfs) manages the problem correctly ? Is there a flag to  
open files that are data-lost compliant ?

I think that our OS can't just hang !

Ps : I can't test it myself for now...
