Greetings,
I have successfully upgraded to 7.9, the system rebooted, but it never
went back online. Got to the server console, but had black screen, so I
blindly issued "reboot" (since later you will see that it was ddb and I
rebooted the system).
That is because I boot with a screen, and then disconnect it. So,
unattended upgrading made forget the display selection and felt back to
serial port (which I don't have).
. o O (I should probably buy a KVM at this point.)
System rebooted, got the screen working, saw the boot get up to the
following message.
pciide0: using apic 1 int 16 for native-PCI interrupt
pciide0: channel 0 ignored (not responding; disabled or no drives?)
pciide0: channel 1 ignored (not responding; disabled or no drives?)
After some lines, I will see the following.
panic: pci_make_tag: bad request
Sadly tesseractOCR is unable to transcribe the image for me. Isn't there
a way to transfer a these kind of messages when you have only a display
to show the panic?

So I tried to turn it off and back on a couple of times.
At one time, I was able to get it to boot completely, and after a while
the same panic prompted back.
So I took a fresh cd79.iso, got into Ventoy, and run an upgrade on top
of the ill system. Rebooted, and everything seems working. Run syspatch
and pkg_add -u. Now it looks stable and it is not panic-ing.
I'm using the following mirror https://ftp.eu.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD
So I wonder if it was an installation error that I did not see, or
hardware fault that the Dell Diagnostic could not catch (yes did run
automated diagnostic to checked hardware to exclude that before
upgrading again on top of the ill system), or something else.
I don't see anything particular in the FAQ for upgrading 7.8->7.9.
This system flawlessly worked since 6.8, so I don't get why I got this
error only after unattended upgrading. Is the server dying? It doesn't
look like right now.
I attach the dmesg of the now working system. I didn't see anything
different from the broken system, but it was too much to copy.
Let me know what you think of this.
Cheers,
d4
