I have situations where this happens, and other situations where this does not
happen.  Multiple machines with their own keys.

I have not figured out if it is the usb layer on the machine, or if the
problem follows a specific key when moved to a different machine (which does
not have a problem with the key it currently uses).

If we discover the problem follos the usb bus, that would be interesting.

If the problem follows the key, then that is interesting in a different way.
