I don't know if I have mentioned it on this list, but Chris Cappuccio has
done some work stripping down 3.1 stable and current, including a minimal
kernel config. I am running it at the moment (although with a full generic
kernel as I added PPPoE support and haven't had muchtime to figure out why
it doesn't work with Chris' kernel).

There's also a group working on a hardening script for OpenBSD. I have
only followed it loosely and haven't seen any traffic on the list lately.

Those two examples could probably be a good starting point for any other
effort.

I am sorry to hear about Chuck's stalker, but the atmosphere on misc@ is
really unpleasant.

The big advantage with scripts is that you could quickly cut a new flash
card from a working OpenBSD system in the case of holes that we have seen
lately. A minimal distro won't have compilers etc, so this is a good way
to update your minimal system just using an up-to-date OpenBSD system.
