Presuming that you're taking about a Soekris box...

The boxes are now coming set at 19200.

Set your terminal to 19200, stop the boot and type "set"
It will show the variable you want to change to 9600
(set speed=9600 ?? something like that).

Then kick out of the terminal, go back in at 9600 and
power cycle the machine.
