yeah but nothing was showing up on the monitor either.

i'm still not sure what the issue was.  i pulled out the framebuffer
and it came up w/serial.  i set it to use serial in PDC and put the
framebuffer back in and it works ok.

have the system installed now and it runs great, thanks.
