Hi,
I have a C110 and I'm trying to install 4.0-release on it. However,
I can't finish the install prodecure because the machine keeps locking
up or panicing during the install.
When I boot HP-UX (which is installed on the wide differential scsi
drive) it seems to run fine (even though I can't do much because I don't
have a login). Therefore, I think the hardware is OK.
WHen I hookup a ordinary narrow SCSI drive and netboot the machine, the
kernel usually loads fine. Sometimes it hangs at this point (the
Install/Upgrade/Shell line never appears), sometimes it panics while
formatting, sometimes it panics while installing the filesets, sometimes
when setting up the network, but it never completes a full install.
See below for the dmesg.
If anyone is interested, I can post some screendumps of a panic.
Some things I tried:
- swapping some of the memory around doesn't help
- serial or PS/2 console makes no difference
- I put in a different disk with 4.0-release from a 712/100 machine. This
disk works fine in the 712/100, but in the C110 similar things happen:
panics or lockups during boot, usually before the login prompt appears
Is the machine FUBAR or is there something I can do to get it up and
running with OpenBSD?
Thanks,
Maurice
