keyboard specification?

I have a quadra 610 running 3.5. It has an Apple Extended II keyboard, and some of the keys don't work right in X. The most annoying are the up and down arrow keys... I managed to solve a similar issue on a blueberry iBook by making sure the keyboard was specified as Macintosh in /etc/X11/XF86Config and by using xkeycaps from the ports tree to figure out the translations for the other keys I want. I installed xkeycaps on the quadra, but it doesn't seem to have a good starting point for my keyboard. Even keys that do work correctly show incorrectly there, no matter which layout I choose. It initially suggests that my keyboard is an Apple Extended_II with a US keymap, which sounds promising, but doesn't work in reality. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've searched the mailing list archives and come up dry. Frank
