Recent mac68k improvements

Hello,

  as most of you are aware of, the mac68k port has not been maintained
since roughly 1999. As a result, this port is not on par with other
architectures and is quite disappointing, when compared against them.
Because of this, and a shrinking number of m68k platforms users, we have
considered dropping this port several times in the past.

  However, if you have been following the cvs activity over the last
couple of weeks, you'll know that things are getting much better. Thanks
to the efforts or Martin Reindl, the mac68k codebase is now being slowly
synced with NetBSD improvements, while retaining the OpenBSD local
changes and ``touch''.

  One of the immediate benefits of this effort is that, finally, the
problems which prevented a bsd.rd installation media to be provided,
have been fixed. Installating OpenBSD/mac68k has suddenly become much,
much easier and faster (as compared against the Mac OS installer
application). Upgrades are also much easier now.

  So, if you have a machine to upgrade or to install, please give the
latest OpenBSD/mac68k snapshot a try. Say goodbye to the Mac OS tools
(except for the booter), enjoy bsd.rd, and let us know of your results.

  Your mileage may vary, though: this snapshot has issues on the AV
machines, and depending upon how much memory you have in your machine,
bsd.rd may not run. These problems have already been fixed, and a new
snapshot will be available soon. We are also working on the rough edges
of the installation procedure, in order to make it easier by the time
OpenBSD 3.7 hits the stack.
