Hey, thanks for the ideas and the reply, but there are some facts that make me suspicious. > A completely wild guess: OpenBSD/mac68k uses XF3, which is pretty darned > old now. It would probably be more interesting to see how your app runs > on a more "mainstream" OpenBSD platform (i386, sparc, sparc64, amd64, > whatever). I'd even encourage you to try a new snapshot for mac68k > (much easier to work with), but X hasn't changed, and to be honest, is > unlikely to. Actually, hmm.. X *has* changed, as I recall, we are still > using the XF3 server, but all the tools are now X.org based. (I'd still > recommend testing on a faster platform. Less frustrating when things > don't work the first time! 8-) 1. I tested the application on OpenBSD/sparc 3.5 and it works fine there (as well on a load of other old and new unices) 2. the missing symbol is not called directly by my application and the application can run flawlesy on XF3 (besides, I am exporting display, so I am not using their server) 3. Nedit which comes with the ports too... works and uses Motif too if it weren't for 3. I would suspect a broken motif in ports (I don't remember if I installed the binary or compiled it myself, but I suspect the first, give the speed of the machine. I was only recently able to upgrade the ram to acceptable levels) could someone test the applicaiton on a newer OpenBSD/68k installation ? 3.4, 3.5 maybe ? Apart from X the only depenency would be a motif toolkit. I use Openmotif. thanks, Riccardo PS: http://nebula-irc.sf.net
