this is really a pity. Linux does full color. Netbsd has a working color
server but the people who wrote it are lost so there are copyright
problems with the code and it cannot be merged in the official tree, a
real pity. (At least I understood the matter this way).

Well, the q840 is really fast under macOS and udner linux it is quite
decent too. But under netbsd I ran often a race against the q610 and it
loosed every time I/O was involed. At netbsd 1.6 times the dma use on
the 610 was better and it ended being the fastest machine for 68k I had
for general usage.
Well, the q840 I used shortly for netbsd had the advantage of accepting
easily 128MB of ram and has indeed a faster cpu, so for compiling it
ended being better. I have never tried openbsd though, I gather it has
similarities with Netbsd in 68k support. Do you still manage to exchange
code advances (if there are any).
Linux supports some hardware that *BSD fails to support, although in a
more or less flakey manner.

Sometimes I really regret of having no knwledge at kernel-level
programming, I'd like to fix some stuff myself. But well, I hope you
might enjoy higher-level programs I wrote on your 68k boxen :)
