zoom in firefox browser - no audio from other participants

recently, my method of doing zoom meeting on my openbsd (latest release, 
updated) Thinkpad W520 has started not playing audio from other 
participants. When I test the mike and speakers, the test sound in the 
speakers plays ok, but testing the mike, it never stops recording (never 
switches to playing back my test). If I click on test speakers in that 
state, it plays the test sound again followed by what I recorded to test 
the mike, which it apparently recorded.

Any advice on troubleshooting this would be appreciated.
