I think the flames have gone on long enough. I hope that in the future we can all remember to be a little more patient. Our friend asked if there was any more information regarding SMP. Clearly there isn't. However, he also asked if it would be any use if the hardware were lent to the effort. I've read the FAQ. Right under "How can I help?" one of the bullet points reads "Donate Hardware". If you take time to re-read rembrandt's question, you see that he asked to lend the dual Xeon system. If you don't want anyone's help, say so. If you want help and they offer to give it, don't flame. Perhaps the FAQ should be updated to read something more like "We have all the x86 we need (or we only need sparc, etc. etc.). Current SMP progress is on hold until there are enough programmers." I think that would prevent these regular flame fests on -smp.
