And in the frugal tradition of people who don't know better, I'll
continue this top-posting thread.  Blah, blah, blah, blah.  Even
I've said in the past the SMP is nice, that I'm interested in
coding, etc.  Have I gotten anywhere?  Nope.

Encouragement?  Well, how about the SMP branch?  Why not try to
compile that branch?  Why not submit a diff that updates that branch
to -current (keeping all the necessary diffs within it)?  Once that
is done, why not submit a diff that updates that branch further
towards SMP'ness?

Now, if you're telling me you did not know the SMP branch existed...
well, what sort of encouragement do you wish me to give you?  Go
away and learn? Take the time (and it will be lots) to become
proficient, and then come back? Good luck in your quest?  I fail
to see the logic.

I did not say that he would not be able to do it.  I just tried to
point out that if you needed such basic instructions as to where
to find the SMP branch of the code, and what to do with it, then
the chances are that it will take some time to get anything done.

Root on an SMP machine to get SMP done?  HAHAHAHAHAHA, someone
please pick me up off the floor.  It is a nice gesture, but it does
show that the person has not done kernel development before.  At
least on a PC.  You *might* be able to do so on some decent hardware,
but it certainly will not be pleasant.

Holier then thou?  Hell no, but much more realistic than thou...
