Same issue with a Nvidia "Vanta" pci card (same/similar card?).
It goes out of sync if it switch from X to the console, so the
console is unusable after X has been started. I can still switch
back to X without trouble, however.

Plus the card gets really hot :p This is on an i810e board.

It doesn't bother me though, at least X works.
