I've did some more searches, and apparantly somebody on this list had  
the same problem a few months ago. The proposed solution was to  
upgrade Xcode, which I did, and after the upgrade, everythink  
compiled without a problem. Thanks.

Anthony, your .bashrc modifications also did the trick, thanks.
Works like a charm now.
