The Darwin component in Bugzilla

(Apologies for cross-posting, but I feel this is a non-trivial change which deserves the widest audience possible.) There is a "Darwin" component in Bugzilla. At first, it seemed that this was intended to be a replacement for that crufty old web front-end to some Radars which disappeared back when the whole kerfuffle happened. However, for it to have fulfilled that purpose it would have had to have had interactions both from outsiders and Apple employees. Unfortunately, due to Apple politics and the closed nature of Darwin development that has not been possible. I find it unclear what useful purpose this serves, as nobody seems to read it on a regular basis, undoubtedly a fair few of those bugs are stale, very few external parties are interested in fixing bugs in Darwin at all, and there's absolutely no interaction from Apple Engineering whatsoever as far as I can tell. The downside is that it adds to the impression (correct or not) that OpenDarwin is somewhat dead, leads to fragmentation of the bug databases, developers that file the bugs are not aware of their upstream status at Apple (if there even is one)... I hereby propose that it be culled. (<http://developer.apple.com/darwin/projects/darwin/> still refers to it, FWIW.) -- Finlay
