Dear discuss, subsequent to my previous post (1/03/05), I have installed OD 7.2.1 on my i386. I now want to install XFree86 and then AfterStep but have a few problems. I looked through the list of available ports at OpenDarwin ( http://darwinports.opendarwin.org/ports/?by=cat&substr=x11 ) to find an X11 but only found 2 versions of XFree86 available and a reference to the XFree86 website. I went there and was intending to get XFree86 from http://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4.3.0/binaries/ as this is the latest 386 binary for OD I found on their site. I noticed, however, that their are a couple of downloads available at http://www.opendarwin.org/downloads/7.2.1/ that may appropriate. The filenames and links are: http://www.opendarwin.org/downloads/7.2.1/X11-x86.tar.bz2 http://www.opendarwin.org/downloads/7.2.1/org.opendarwin.X11-7.2.1-1.i386.rpm Can anyone tell me if these files are XFree86 or not? My guess is they are not and that they are probably ports of x11 for OD and therefore won't have twm. Can someone tell me if they are binaries? How would I tell? Which one is appropriate for me to install? I understand that these questions are pretty basic but that's my level :]. If you feel inclined to answer could you please answer in plain english and then dumb it down a bit... I realise that the description of the 'Discuss' list is "Discussion about the direction and infrastructure of OpenDarwin" but none of the other lists seem appropriate. If you could point me to some good noob resources and a forum/list I might leave you alone... Best Wishes, David Walker
