I'd guess that you're not in posession of all the facts as to why
Apple's internal build system is the way it is, and so you're not
really in a position to judge.

The infrastructure that is in place is XBS. You don't have access to
that (neither do I). We have to work with that, and darwinbuild is the
best attempt so far at doing so.
