Can CVS or Fink be used from any other OS to get Darwin OS Software and or Updates aka linux / ms windows ?

Hi,
    Is it possible with Darwin OS ver 8.0.1 for X86 (native) as it is 
(in the net download - then installed) in other words, to go onto the 
Internet / www. If so, what is the process of getting ppp woking for 
dial in and how do you use the text only interface as a web browser ? 
Surely we aren't forced to have to use something like linx, to surf 
the web ?

God,,,, we are going to have to get our minds and hearts over some 
mighty big hurdles under this roof.

Is it simpler to use another OS, go online, and pull off a GUI plus 
plus plus from somewhere for 8.0.1 for x86 burn everything onto a 
blank cdrom / dvd then haul it into Darwin somehow, do the required 
installs, and then use the installed GUI interface to go on line. We 
are really out of our depth with Darwin.

DarwinPorts and Fink have been suggested but how, with just a text interface ?

What way are others using Darwin online ?

Well I guess it's just being new to text based OS and it is still a 
shell shock, (pardon our pun) but we see certain things we put the 
obo's together but then we are stumped to get started and where and 
how to get started !
