Any rsync HFSX news?

Hello,

Could someone please summarize the status of rsync and HFS(X)?

In my experience and research there were issues with Apple's and the 
alternative(s) having various problems (preservation of dates in my 
experience) and lagging behind the official rsync.

In short, is there a fully-HFSX-safe rsync out there?
