But not with Suns. Sun framebuffers usually use C-Sync and most SGIs supply H/V-Sync in addition to SoG. And if a monitor (CRT or LCD) promises to support SoG in its tech specs, the reality is different. I came across CRTs and LCDs that promised SoG and in practice it didn't work right. E.g. SoG was only recognized when the displayed picture was relatively bright. With white text on a black background it didn't work. Fortunately it is quite simple to extract C-Sync from SoG.
