Dear Sun eperts,

we are running a Sun Fire 6800 with 96GB RAM and 24
1200 MHz CPUs. Of course the machine is out of maintenance
but we have lots of spare parts. Once in a while a CPU dies
and whenever this happened we just replaced the complete
CPU board. When we were out of spare CPU boards we tried
to buy some on Ebay. But all of them had at least one broken
CPU or there connectors where broken on transport.

So we decided to replace a broken CPU on one CPU-board
with a working CPU from another board. That was easy, but
the replacement CPU runs at 600MHz only. There must be
some undocumented configuration options to change the
CPU-speed, but Sun/Oracle wont tell us :-(

Anybody out there who knows how to do this?

Kind regards

Peter Koch
