Hi,

I relocated our NIS+ master server from Sun Sparc Solaris 5.8 to x86
Solaris 10 and encountered problem. It appeared the encryption method
was incompatible and permission changed and hope you could advise on
NIS+ server relocation.

Our current NIS+ master currently running on Sun Sparc Ultra-1 under
Solaris 5.8. As the Sun Sparc Ultra-1 has been very old although
hardware is good, we need to relocate the master server to another x86
Solaris 10 server. I copied the following files/directories:
/var/nis
/etc/.rootkey
/etc/nsswitch.conf and
/etc/defaultdomain

to the newly prepared server on X86 Solaris 10 with same host name and
IP address.

However after the new master server booted up, it complained that the
encryption version was not the same and I was not allowed to even change
my password on a testing account.

Could you please advise on solving the problem.

Thank you very much.

Regards
Alan
