NFS mounts on Tru64 v5.1B

Hello Managers,

I'm having an issue trying to attach a NAS system to my Tru64 server and
I was hoping some of you might have some advice on performance issues
I'm seeing.

especially to Richard L. for sending two (2) for me to work with. =20

I'm going to be trying a dual path approach to this storage issue and
the first will involve using an external ReadyNAS box hooked up via
direct attached ethernet, no switches or hubs involved. We are using a
192.168.X.X for the ethernet card connected to the NAS whereas the
server uses a 10.X.X.X for the ethernet card connected to the LAN.

Currently, when the NAS is attached to a 100Mb ee0 card at full-duplex
my performance is at about 25% - 33% vs. a direct attached external SCSI
RAID subsystem. This could be the best case scenario for the system as
an NFS mount at 100Mb-Full.

When we attach it to a 1000Mb bgm0 card at full-duplex the performance
actually decreases.  At first we thought it was a crappy crossover cable
due to a number of collision errors we were seeing but, upon testing,
the ReadyNAS can autodetect the cable type and we used a regular
ethernet cable and it worked fine. Including zero (0) collisions. Both
of these ethernet cards have been in my system and running fine for
quite a while.

Does anyone have preferred or suggested settings for the NFS mount or
the ethernet card that might help the situation?  Any other issues I
should be aware of or be monitoring?
