Dear AL,

Actually, there are several species of Agave found in peninsular Florida and the Caribbean.

Agave neglecta Small, A.desmettiana Jacobi and A.decipiens Baker are reported from peninsular Florida.

  Hello All!
  There is an agave plant that grows around the the Carribean and 
  southern florida.  The plant is dark green with slender 
  agave "leaves" which come to a a very sharp point, reaching 
  approximately four to six feet high and four to five feet across.  
  There is generally no variegation, and the spikes grow to about 
  twenty feet.  I have known it as Carribean Agave.  Can anyone refine 
  this ID?
  Also this plant is available should any summer gardener or collector 
  want to add it to their stock.
