Are you familiar with Agave decipiens? It has dark green leaves that are
generally hard with a strong terminal spine, small, that are somewhat
fleshy. It grows very tall, easily to 20 feet in southern Florida, on a
visible trunk. When you say spike, do you mean the blooming stalk, or do
you mean the entire plant?
