Whooo-hoo! John. Looks like it will be a nice big flower spike when it matures.
I don't see how dividing any plant would encourage flowering. It takes energy for a plant to flower and, if anything, dividing a plant would seem to rob it of energy. I would think that once a plant starts to put energy into a flower stalk that nothing short of mutilation would keep it from its appointed task.

Sansevieria subspicata showing the start of flowering. First time I have flowered it. Last year I split a large plant up maybe this had something to do with it.
