Probably this helps. To the best of my knowledge, it was not a hybrid (from a pollination) but from the failure of a tissue culture experiment of S. cylindrica.  The result was like that, yes, a bit bloated :) but some people like it though. 

It's been more than 4-5 years I guess by now and the pups remain like that.

I never even had boncel. however somebody whose name escapes myoverheated mind, DID get one, praps off eBay and reported that the pupswhich emerged from a rooted leave were plain cylindrica. Perhaps thereare several different plants being sold under this name? in short, Idunno.
