Dear all, We're progressing steadily with plans for the 2010 conference, which will be held in York, UK from 28 June to 1 July (plus WCN annual meeting on 2 July) next year. The agreed subtitle is 'How Do We Get There?' - as the main theme will be focusing on bringing carfree communities to life. The conference will be centred on practical transition strategies, covering a range of issues from community-led street conversions to new carfree development to eco-cities, drawing on the past to build a sustainable future. We envisage the theoretical why and how morning lectures and workshops could build nicely into afternoon study tours and active street conversion exercises, perhaps culminating in panel debates on the mainstreaming of what we're promoting. Obviously we'll have a better feel for this following the call for programme proposals - to be issued in mid-October along with the opening of registration. In the meantime, we wanted to approach you more generally about ideas and objectives - what you'd like to see happen at the conference. We have our own ideas, but we'd also like to hear from you and generate a discussion on this list. Anyone wish to begin?
