--20cf3079ba50d618d604ad8370de Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Dear Carfree friends and readers of the bulletin! (cc: to the translators) I wanted to share a few words with all of you about the process of making the bulletin and a call for help. After having edited the bulletin when I worked in Prague for WCN a few years ago, I stopped when I left, but then picked it up again last fall on a voluntary basis. This spring we included an upgrade with rich formatting and html. While the new format has been generally appreciated, it created several technical issues and it has also required a lot more attention on our side, and it has made it more difficult for the translators themselves to send the various language editions due to ftp, updating the website, etc. So we have come to the point where I would like to continue working on the bulletin, but would greatly appreciate more help with it. It has become almost too much to cope with, at least on a voluntary basis. I think that the whole service can develop even further and become an ever greater tool of the World Carfree movement, including even newer languages and smoother web experience. But we need to work in that direction. Thus, if you are reading this and interested in helping, here is where you could jump in: - *News editing*: sharing in the process of creating the English language version. - *Tech support, web development*: helping to improve the way the bulletin can be translated, uploaded, formatted, sent, etc. - *Bulletin strategy*: considering general ways to develop the bulletin, building up a future strategy, working with other media If you would like to start a *new translation*, I'd be happy to hear from you, but we should wait with that until we have solved other issues first. *Partnering*: One idea for consideration is to couple the production of the bulletin with another organisation with similar outlook. This would have to be considered carefully, but partnering could bring in benefits, such as greater exposure in another network, availability of staff time, possibly financial support. Send any ideas for this. In a nutshell, if you have time, ideas, programming skills, web savvy, or would just like to be a part of the discussion for development of the World Carfree Monthly News service, please get in touch with me! The next issue to come out will be October. Thanks a lot, Justin Ps: I would like to take this moment to publicly thank the translators for all their great work and help over the past year!
